6 Jakarta Students Bring Home Medals from International Tournament

The COVID-19 pandemic did not prevent 6 students from Jakarta from bringing home medals from the World Scholar's Cup (WSC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on December 13-17, 2021.

Their achievements should be appreciated to motivate and inspire other students in Jakarta

Jakarta National Education Commission General Chairperson, Diah Nawang Ratnasari mentioned, those 6 students who had won medals at the event were Andy Muhammad Auffa Lologau, a 10th grade student of SMAN 28 Jakarta; Aradhana Pranaja Dhirgantara, a 10th grade student of SMA Labschool Kebayoran; Danysha Adina, a 10th grade student of Mentari Intercultural School Bintaro; Farrel Putra Mahmudi, a 10th grade student of SMAN 70 Jakarta; Nabila Jandini Hidajat, a 7th grade student of HighScope Indonesia Kelapa Gading; and Titan Oceanus Darmadi, a 10th grade student of SMAN 70 Jakarta.

"Their achievements should be appreciated to motivate and inspire other students in Jakarta. The Jakarta National Education Commission would like to thank their parents and schools who have given full support to these children," she said, at Jakarta Education Office Building, Jalan Gatot Sub, Kuningan Timur, South Jakarta, Saturday (1/22).

Meanwhile, Jakarta Education Agency's Curriculum and Assessment for Elementary Schools Sub-Coordinator, Astin Juleha appreciated the collaboration between Jakarta Education Agency, schools, and parents that went well because students were able to continue to excel even in the midst of pandemic.

"We will encourage and motivate students not to be satisfied with the results and continue to excel at the next levels while carrying the good name of Jakarta Province," she asserted.

One of the students, Farrel Putra Mahmudi admitted that he was proud to win at international level competition such as WSC by getting one panelist debate trophy, four gold medals, and four silver medals.

"Hopefully, the six of us will advance to the Tournament of Champions at Yale University, New Haven, United States in November 2022. We also hope to win more trophies and awards," he stated.

For information, the World Scholar's Cup (WSC) is an international level tournament consisting of four categories, namely debate, writing, general knowledge, and quiz with competition materials related to knowledge in all fields.
